Op Red Cap was the brainchild of Gunner. His thoughts of Christmas were not of boozing, stuffing his face and opening presents with his family but one of serving officers of our Military Police out in the Middle East Theatre of conflict.
Aware that the GPO would send free of charge boxes of up to two kilos he and Jill collected and arranged the filling of over two hundred shoeboxes filled to the brim with sweets magazines and toiletries that would make life more bearable out in the dusty hot conditions the men and women are having to endure.
In fact the presents were well received and distributed by some high ranking officer dressed as Santa. A retired Motorcycle unit Sgt's son, who is a serving RMP officer, commented on what a suprise it was to open such a gift from someone he doesn't know. Many where overwhelmed by the work of Leicestershire and Rutland Blue Knights that they've invited us to their return home piss up.

Well done Gunner. In fact Connie sent the following:-
Gunner in his blue vest seen here with  Duggie and Mark. Behind which is the DCC Mr Lindley and a lovely Cadet Officer, whose name escapes me!! Oh and surrounded by the presents to be sent...
Merry Christmas boys & girls
"You and your chapter should be commended for holding such a successful event in collecting items to be sent to your troops. The story that I read on the BBC news is very inspirational, and you have done something very special along with putting the Blue Knights at the forefront. Please pass on my highest regard to your chapter members for their unselfish and dedicated work."

Ride With Pride,
Connie

OP RED CAP II - DECEMBER 2007
The RMP invited Gunner down to the HQ for an Xmas dinner this year but due to an illness he was unable to attend, galdly the most senior officer who supports our work Leics DCC David Lindley went in his place. He was overwhelmed by the RMP generosity. The parcels this year were already starting to arrive and were being retained in the QM stores for handing out on XMAS day. Sadly there's not much to look forward to when you're posted on the other side of the planet away from family so it's no surprise that the shoeboxes are one of the things they do look forward to.

Op Red
Cap 07 was another huge success, even more so than last year. Op Red Cap is where we send shoe box parcels to our colleagues serving in the Royal Military Police in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
This year our brothers within Scotland I joined us, they looked after the RMP in Iraq and we looked after the RMP in Afghanistan. Parcels were filled and sent by work colleagues in Scotland and Leicestershire plus the chapter members getting involved.
Every RMP soldier will receive a parcel to open on Christmas Day, this will make them realise we are thinking of them and appreciate what they are doing for us.
This is truly a magnificent effort by both Blue Knights are our Police Colleagues giving support our Police colleagues in the HM Forces. Merry Xmas everyone wherever you are...........
